2024 Impact Report
In 2024, we partnered with local environmental
organizations to offer semi-monthly OBB workshops
to the public on topics about identifying local 昀氀ora
and fauna. The Hemlock Restoration Initiative led a
workshop where we treated over 500 trees along the
Henry Fork River. Forest Her and Catawba Riverkeeper
joined us for another workshop in Oak Hill Community
Park & Forest, where we identi昀椀ed over 30 bird species!
In 2025, FCNC will host bi-monthly workshops focused
on being a steward of nature in your own backyard!
These events are free, family friendly, and will feature
topics like how to compost, planting for pollinators,
growing a wildlife habitat, and more.
2. FCNC’s volunteer program fosters communities
that value conservation by engaging the public in land
stewardship and management. Workdays include
activities such as trail maintenance, litter pickups,
native tree plantings, invasive plant treatments, and
more. Since 2018, this program has accomplished
3,742 hours of volunteer time valued at $111,848.38, with
Our volunteers planted hundreds of livestakes (native trees that reroot from cuttings) around a stream in Oak Hill Community Park and
Forest to restore riparian vegetation.
2,347 trees planted, 23.5 miles of trail maintained and
improved, and 33,719 pounds of litter removed from
our local lands and waterways.
