and Forest
A 652-acre public park 10 minutes
outside of Morganton, NC, Oak
Hill Community Park and Forest
features 12-miles of trail for hikers
and bikers, community agriculture
programs, with more to come.

Pinnacle Mountains Preserve
Over 15 miles of the Wilderness
Gateway State Trail will be built on
this preserve assembled by FCNC
in the South Mountains east of
Bobs Creek State Natural Area.

Johns River
Headwaters Preserve
Fonta Flora State Trail - Copper Ridge
Copper Ridge, a 2.5-mile moderately strenuous
section of the Fonta Flora State Trail in Old Fort, was
built by FCNC on land it acquired and transferred to
NC State Parks. The multi-use trail, offering rugged
terrain and scenic views, re昀氀ects partnerships
with Camp Grier, G5 Trail Collective, the U.S. Forest
Service, and N.C. State Parks.

River Access
1st FCNC preserve open for public access—
Henry Fork River Preserve “Possum Rock”
Possum Rock River Access now serves as a
gateway to the Henry Fork River for canoers,
kayakers, anglers, and anyone looking for a
convenient place to enjoy the water.
FCNC purchased 326 acres
in Blowing Rock, bordering
the Blowing Rock attraction,
protecting the source of
the Johns River and its
headwater streams.

Trail
Bob Benner Memorial Trail
The Bob Benner Memorial Trail, on FCNC’s
South Mountains Preserve, is a 1.3-mile hikingonly trail (2.6 miles round trip) accessed
from Old NC-18 near Baptist Camp Road. It
features two overlooks offering unique views
of the South Mountains.
